This October, we were able to complete the battle module which represents about a third of the core game mechanics you’ll find in Chef Wars! We shared this with a limited set of family and friends, and we received a lot of positive feedback as well as areas to improve.
We had so much fun and learned a lot in terms of player-focused game design. We’ll definitely be optimizing the battle more in the next weeks before we jump to the fully explorable World Map. This will be our greatest challenge yet!
If you’d like to try out the battle demo, please contact us via Facebook or email. Be ready with an Android device and your thinking cap – we will hound you for opinions! In the meantime, here’s some screenshots!
The battle starts out with themes from the judges – example, Fruity, Summer, Luxury.
Players have to pick a dish from their arsenal which best interprets the themes. For the demo, the dishes were pre-determined. But in the full game, players will be able to explore the world, collect ingredients, and have their specialized chefs discover and upgrade recipes. Since players can visit more than 300 cities – each with uniquely themed competitions – and discover hundreds of recipes, the strategic possibilities are endless!
The heart of the battle is the judging. Celebrity guests give players a rating from 1-10. There will be more than ten judges in the final game – each with their own personalities and preferences. Can you get that elusive all-10 knockout score?
Thanks for reading and we are excited to get the full game in everyone’s hands soon!
